Pet Damage Protection Terms

SCHEDULE 1

PET PROTECTION ADD-ON

  1. APPLICATION

1.1 This Schedule applies only where the Host has purchased the Pet Protection Add-On in connection with the Services.

1.2 “Pet” means a domesticated dog or cat lawfully permitted under applicable local law to stay at the Property during a Booking.

1.3 This Schedule forms part of the Host Protection Terms and must be read together with them.

1.4 Capitalised terms not defined in this Schedule have the meanings given to them in the Host Protection Terms.

1.5 Except as expressly amended by this Schedule, the Host Protection Terms continue to apply in full.

1.6 In the event of any inconsistency between this Schedule and the Host Protection Terms, this Schedule shall prevail solely in respect of claims relating to Property Damage caused by a pet during a Booking.

AMENDMENT TO CLAUSE 4 (EXCLUSIONS)

2.1 Clause 4.1 of the Host Protection Terms is amended such that the exclusion for:

“Property Damage which was caused by any pet (other than a service animal)”

shall not apply where:

(a) the Host has purchased the Pet Protection Add-On;

(b) the pet was present at the Property during an Approved Booking; and

(c) all requirements of this Schedule and the Host Protection Terms have been satisfied.

2.2 For the avoidance of doubt, assistance animals and service animals are not Pets for the purposes of this Schedule.

  1. PET-RELATED PROPERTY DAMAGE

3.1 Subject to clauses 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Host Protection Terms and this Schedule, Property Damage caused directly by a Pet during a Booking may be considered by us when assessing a Payment Request.

3.2 Examples of Property Damage that may be considered under this Schedule include:

(a) scratching, chewing or clawing damage to fixtures, fittings or Contents;

(b) staining of carpets, rugs, soft furnishings or bedding where such staining cannot reasonably be removed through standard cleaning processes;

(c) damage to doors, skirting boards, flooring or furniture caused by a Pet; and

(d) other physical Property Damage directly caused by a Pet during a Booking.

3.3 Notwithstanding the Infestation exclusion in the Host Protection Terms, we may consider reasonable Third-Party Invoice costs relating to flea treatment where the infestation arose directly from a Pet present during the Booking, subject to the Flea Treatment Sub-Limit specified in the Order Form.

3.4 Any determination regarding Guest liability, Charges and any Protection Payment shall remain subject to the Adjudication Service and clause 7.1 of the Host Protection Terms.
