Guest Verification requires the guest to submit a real-time selfie and ID photo. We use facial biometric recognition to compare the photos, verify the name matches the ID, and check the guest’s date of birth to ensure they aren’t underage.
The most common forms of ID that we see are passports, driving licenses, and national ID cards. However, we can accept any ID that displays all four of the following:
- Full name
- Photo
- Date of birth
- Issued by the government (gun license, military ID, etc)
Airbnb and Vrbo verify account information at signup, but they don’t reverify for each booking or share verification details with hosts. Truvi checks every booking individually with real-time ID verification, screens against our watchlist of guests who previously caused damage, and provides you with full booking reports including the guest’s verified ID.

The criminal check will only run on guests with a US address. If your guest does not have a US address, the check will not run and you won’t be charged.
The criminal check results will not affect your protection; they are intended to help you learn more about your guest and make informed decisions about who you are hosting.
In this case, we would need to ask for two proofs of address dated within the last 3 months (for example, a utility bill or bank statement).
